Robotic Construction Lab

The Robotic Construction research laboratory is engaged in the development of innovative solutions for sustainable construction using robotic principles. The laboratory is equipped with a 6-axis ABB IRB 2600 industrial robot.

Publications

The research work of the laboratory and other projects in collaboration are published in book chapters, journals and conference proceedings.

Research

The research work of the laboratory focuses on the integration of computational design with robotic fabrication strategies, aiming at the development and multi-objective analysis of architectural design and construction systems according to sustainability criteria.

Undergraduate and postgraduate Courses

ARH - 220 Digital Architectural Communication Media

Undergraduate course that offers a first understanding of architectural design software (CAAD) in three dimensional (3d) and two dimensional (2d) spaces as well as in digital fabrication techniques. 

ARH - 421 Advanced Computer-Aided Design

Undergraduate course that focuses on the use of computer software and fabrication machinery as tools for architectural design, prototyping and communication.

ARH - 522 Advanced Computer-Aided Design Topics

Postgraduate course that focuses on advanced digital design and fabrication processes (CAD/CAM) and particularly on the development of advanced computational mechanisms that can be applied in complex, non-standard spatial and structural design research.
