Odysseas Kontovourkis, Ph.D

Bio

Odysseas Kontovourkis, Ph.D. is currently an Assistant Professor and the Director of the research laboratory for Digital Developments in Architecture and Prototyping – d2AP. His research interests focus on the integration of computational design with robotic fabrication strategies, aiming at the development and multi-objective analysis of architectural design and construction systems according to sustainability criteria. Particularly, he explores issues related to the introduction and the active involvement of robots in the manufacturing process and their impact on the economy and ecology of solutions. Also, he examines topics in the fields of computer-aided design/ computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), parametric design and physics-based computer modeling with emphasis on pedestrian movement behavior modeling. Finally, he deals with issues related to the adaptation and interaction in architectural systems as well as with the theory of design process and the use of computers.
